Indonesia Calls on US, Israel, and Iran to Halt Attacks in Middle East
Jakarta — The Indonesian government has conveyed deep concern over the increasing and expanding tensions in the Middle East region, which are deemed increasingly worrying.
Yvonne Mewengkang, Spokesperson I of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu), stated that the government has received various reports from Indonesian representations in the region regarding the continuously deteriorating security situation.
“The Indonesian government once again conveys its deep concern (serious concern) over the increasing and expanding tensions and their impact in the Middle East,” Yvonne said in an official Kemenlu statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.
On the other hand, Indonesia also called on Iran to halt attacks targeting neighbouring countries in the region. Iran’s attacks are said to have targeted several countries in the region, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.
“Indonesia reaffirms the obligation of all parties to uphold the principles of international law, particularly regarding the prohibition of the use of force against a country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Yvonne explained.
“The government continues to closely monitor the impact of the conflict on Indonesian nationals (WNI) in the Middle East region,” she said.
The government has also prepared contingency measures should conditions require the repatriation of Indonesian nationals from various countries in the region.
