The Indonesian government is promoting stronger economic cooperation with China through the Indonesia-China Investment Forum in Beijing on 1 April 2026. This forum forms part of a series of trade missions to attract investment and broaden market access.

The event, held at the China World Hotel in Beijing, was initiated by the Asian Trade, Tourism, and Economics Council (ATTEC) and attended by officials from both countries, business actors, and investors.

The forum focused on panel discussions and business matching sessions, opening opportunities for concrete cooperation in various sectors, from industry and trade to the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Minister of SMEs, Maman Abdurrahman, assessed that this forum serves as a momentum to strengthen the position of Indonesian business actors in the global market, particularly for SMEs.

“This forum has strategic significance in strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries, especially in developing SMEs as the backbone of the national economy. Business actors must be able to integrate into the global value chain and adapt to digital transformation and technological innovation,” said Maman in his statement on Friday, 3 April.

In addition to encouraging investment, the forum is also considered important in expanding business networks between Indonesia and China, which has long been one of Indonesia’s main trading partners.

The Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Djauhari Oratmangun, stated that the forum opens up broader collaboration spaces for business actors from both countries.

The Chairman of ATTEC, Budihardjo Iduansjah, added that the forum does not stop at discussions but is directed towards producing concrete cooperation.

“This forum is not only a space for dialogue but also a bridge to bring about real cooperation, both in the form of investment, market expansion, and sustainable industrial partnerships between Indonesia and China,” said Budihardjo.

As a follow-up, the forum also included the signing of a memorandum of understanding between ATTEC and the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations to encourage more structured investment and trade collaboration.

During the visit series, the Indonesian delegation also held several bilateral meetings with strategic institutions in China, including in the industrial, trade, payment systems, and human resource development sectors.

This step is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s position as an investment destination in the Asian region, while expanding export opportunities and future industrial cooperation.
