Indonesia beats Hong Kong 4-1
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia's junior soccer team picked up a consolation win by crushing Hong Kong 4-1 in their last Asia- Oceania Zone Olympic qualifying round match played on rain-soaked pitch in the Mong Kok stadium in Kowloon, Hong Kong, yesterday.
Unfortunately, this result had little significance because Indonesia had lost any chance of earning a berth to next year's Olympic Games in Atlanta after falling 1-0 to South Korea its other away match in Seoul on Tuesday.
In their desperate bid to stop the marauding Indonesian forward in its tracks, Hong Kong players resorted to rough-house tactics marked with numerous robust and dangerous tackles with two of them being sent off.
Indonesia's Indriyanto scored the first goal at the 28th minute. The second goal, zeroed in on by the team's star, Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto, followed one minute later. The third goal, which was also netted by Kurniawan, came at the 33rd minute. Ismayana scored the fourth and last goal at the 44th minute. Hong Kong's only goal was scored some seconds later by Chang Chi-hong. (arf)
