Indonesia at UNSC: We Cannot Accept the Killing of 3 TNI Soldiers in Lebanon!
In an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council, Indonesia expressed that it cannot accept the deaths of three TNI soldiers in the UNIFIL peacekeeping mission.
“We cannot accept the killing of these peacekeepers!” said Indonesia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Umar Hadi, during the UNSC meeting broadcast live on the United Nations YouTube channel on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
The three who fell were Praka Farizal Rhomadhon (27), Kapten Infanteri Zulmi Aditya Iskandar (33), and Sertu Muhammad Nur Ichwan (25).
He stated that Farizal fell while on duty at the Adchit Al Qusayr post. Meanwhile, Zulmi and Nur Ichwan were killed while on duty supporting logistics provision at Banni Hayyan.
“This is a great loss for Indonesia, also a great loss for all of us, for the UN, for this Security Council, and for every community that views peacekeepers as a symbol of hope and peace,” said Umar Hadi.
“The peacekeepers fell and were injured while carrying out the mandate entrusted to them by this UN Security Council,” said Umar Hadi.
“Indonesia strongly condemns the heinous attack on the peacekeepers serving in UNIFIL on 29 and 30 March 2026,” Umar emphasised.
This emergency UNSC session was urged by Indonesia and France.
“With France, Indonesia requested this meeting,” said Umar Hadi during the session.
Previously reported, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot urged the holding of an emergency UNSC session following a series of serious incidents targeting UNIFIL forces in Lebanon.
He described the incidents as “very serious events”, especially because they killed peacekeeping personnel.
“Attacks near the positions of UN peacekeeping forces are unacceptable and cannot be justified,” Barrot stated, as reported by French media L’Orient Today on Monday (30/3/2026).
He also emphasised that France is urging a thorough investigation to uncover the cause of the tragedy.
