Indonesia and EU Officially Establish EU Desk at Investment Ministry
Jakarta, Beritasatu.com - Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of BKPM, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, confirmed that the Indonesian Government and the European Union have officially established an EU Desk within the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). The confirmation was delivered by Rosan following the signing of a cooperation agreement with the EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, HE Denis Chaibi.
"Indonesia and the European Union have officially launched the establishment of the EU Desk within the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM," Rosan stated on Sunday (15/6/2025).
Rosan explained that the EU Desk will serve as a strategic platform for coordinating and facilitating investment from EU member states, particularly to support the downstream industrialisation agenda, green transition, and technology development in Indonesia.
He stressed that the establishment of the EU Desk is also aligned with the acceleration of the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) negotiations, which is considered to hold significant potential for opening broader market access.
According to information gathered, the EU Desk will be supported through the EU-Indonesia Cooperation Facility (EUICF) programme and will be located at the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM offices. Its functions include facilitating policy discussions between EU investors and regulators, identifying potential projects, and providing business development assistance.
The EU Desk is also expected to serve as a bridge between financial institutions of EU member states and private investors, in an effort to drive investment flows into the country.
"This partnership reflects a new spirit in Indonesia's future-oriented economic diplomacy," Rosan concluded.
Previously, Rosan had also emphasised that Indonesia's strategic position is highly attractive to global investors, particularly from Europe. With abundant resources and a dynamic market, combined with European expertise and technology, both parties have significant opportunities to forge mutually beneficial partnerships.
