Indonesia and Cambodia Strengthen Friendship and Cultural Diplomacy through Phsaar Reatrei
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s Chargé d’Affaires ad interim to Cambodia, Krishnajie, stated that the Phsaar Reatrei initiative serves as a symbol of collaboration and friendship between Indonesia and Cambodia through the promotion of Nusantara cuisine and culture. “The Phsaar Reatrei initiative aims to symbolise collaboration and friendship between Indonesia and Cambodia, including efforts to introduce Nusantara culture and cuisine to the local community,” he said. The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh held the Phsaar Reatrei Indonesia (Indonesian Night Market) at Chaktomuk Walk Street, Phnom Penh, on 25-26 April, officially opened by Krishnajie alongside the Secretary of State of the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism, Dr. Thok Sokhom, and the Director of the Phnom Penh Provincial Tourism Department, Mom Veasna. A press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh in Jakarta on Friday stated that Phsaar Reatrei Indonesia has become an important part of Indonesia’s soft power diplomacy in Cambodia, enhancing its positive image while promoting Indonesia’s flagship products. Furthermore, the event facilitates the promotion of Indonesian products, opens opportunities for increased trade and investment, and strengthens cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries. During the opening session, the Embassy awarded Nusantara Taste Ambassador certificates to two Indonesian restaurants that have long contributed to serving authentic Indonesian cuisine in Cambodia, namely Bengawan Solo and Warung Bali. On that occasion, visitors could shop for Indonesian-made products and sample Nusantara cuisine while enjoying traditional arts and music performances as well as appearances by musicians from both countries. Phsaar Reatrei Indonesia featured 12 booths presenting food and beverage products, medicines, beauty items, typical Nusantara snacks, and batik clothing.
