Indonesia and Brunei Strengthen Synergy in Healthcare Human Resource Quality in ASEAN
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian higher education institutions are strengthening the competitiveness of the national workforce at the regional level through collaboration on healthcare curriculum development and research with educational institutions in Brunei Darussalam.
The international cooperation between Universitas Binawan and Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) College of Health Sciences Chung Yea Fui in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei, aims to improve the standards of healthcare graduates to meet international labour market needs, particularly in the ASEAN region.
“This collaboration is a concrete step in providing relevant international learning experiences and encouraging the emergence of adaptive, competitive graduates ready to compete at the global level,” said Acting Rector of Universitas Binawan, Farouk Abdullah Alwyni, in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
The cooperation with JPMC College of Health Sciences includes programmes for academic exchanges, joint scientific forums, and academic information dissemination to accelerate the transfer of healthcare technology to Indonesia.
Chief Executive Officer of JPMC College of Health Sciences, Chung Yea Fui, emphasised that this cross-border synergy is part of collective efforts to strengthen human resource capacity in healthcare.
“This partnership opens up significant opportunities for knowledge exchange and strengthening human resource capacity in healthcare, which will ultimately have a positive impact on improving healthcare service quality in the region,” stated Chung Yea Fui.
Through this partnership, Indonesian educational institutions are also reviewing international-standard healthcare service benchmarks via Brunei’s hospital facilities to enrich national curriculum development references.
This effort aims to narrow the competency gap between local healthcare workers and global standards through practice-based learning integrated with international hospital networks.
Strengthening international networks is part of the national agenda to ensure that graduates of Indonesian health higher education institutions have certifications and capabilities recognised in foreign labour markets.
