Indonesia and Australia Discuss E-Government to Strengthen National Productivity
JAKARTA - The Indonesian government and Australia are discussing the implementation of electronic-based government or e-Government to boost national productivity.
This policy study by the Indonesian government was one of the strategic agendas discussed during the visit of Chair of the Australian Productivity Commission Danielle Wood and Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Roderick Brazier in Jakarta on Friday (27/3/2026).
Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto stated that the implementation of e-Government is an initiative that can be developed immediately.
“It must be emphasised that amid the challenging global dynamics, Indonesia is focusing on strengthening the productivity enhancement movement that runs in parallel with the application of efficiency to drive sustainable economic growth,” he said in a written statement on Saturday (28/3/2026).
In addition, the meeting also discussed strengthening Indonesia-Australia economic cooperation, particularly in increasing productivity, human resource development, and strengthening the economic resilience of both countries.
Airlangga also appreciated and fully supported the sustainability of the Australia-Indonesia economic partnership programme or Prospera.
“Under the Prospera Phase II framework, the Australian Productivity Commission is expected to conduct research related to the development of a workforce that is adaptive to technological advancements. In addition, the preparation of national recommendations regarding the utilisation of artificial intelligence in Indonesia is one of the important aspects that needs to be addressed,” he stated.
Airlangga also hopes that the urgency of tax reform, which is currently a national priority agenda, can become a focus in the implementation of Prospera Phase II.
On the same occasion, Chair of the Australian Productivity Commission Danielle Wood stated that her side is ready to strengthen cooperation with Indonesia in improving the capacity of the public services sector.
Meanwhile, Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia Roderick Brazier emphasised that the Australian government is committed to supporting Indonesia’s accession process to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
