In the midst of the global energy transition acceleration, Indonesia’s position in the world battery industry continues to strengthen. Previously known as a supplier of raw materials, Indonesia is now beginning to build an integrated battery industry ecosystem from upstream to downstream to support the development of clean energy and electric vehicles in Asia.

Batteries are no longer seen merely as supporting components but as an important part of the national energy transition strategy and sustainable industrial development. With nickel reserves of around 1.6 million tonnes and increasing investments in electric vehicles and battery energy storage systems (BESS), Indonesia is considered to have great potential to become a global lithium-ion battery supply chain centre.

The Indonesian battery market in 2024 is recorded at around 1.45 billion US dollars and is projected to grow until 2030 at a rate of 23.7 percent. Meanwhile, the BESS market is estimated to increase from 4.36 billion US dollars to 15.82 billion US dollars by 2032. The government is also targeting the construction of 100 gigawatts of solar power plants (PLTS) as part of accelerating the energy transition and strengthening national clean energy.

This momentum underpins the re-hosting of The Battery Show Asia - Indonesia 2026 on 2–5 September 2026 at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) Kemayoran as part of the Indonesia Energy & Engineering (IEE) Series 2026.

This exhibition serves as a collaboration space for battery industry players, from battery cell manufacturers, battery pack assemblers, battery management systems (BMS), energy storage systems, to battery recycling industries and electric vehicle infrastructure development.

More than just a technology exhibition, this event also brings together investors, manufacturers, regulators, industry associations, and research institutions to strengthen collaboration towards a more sustainable energy industry. Several institutions such as the Indonesian Smart Network Initiative Association (PJCI) and the National Battery Research Institute (NBRI) are ensuring active involvement in the forum.

As part of a sustainable industrial approach, The Battery Show Asia - Indonesia will be held concurrently with Electric & Power Indonesia and Data Center Asia - Indonesia under the Energy Week - IEE Series 2026 umbrella. These three exhibitions form an integrated industrial ecosystem that covers energy generation, power storage, and digital systems for industrial operational efficiency.

Deputy Event Director of Pamerindo Indonesia, Hanung Hanindito, said that the development of the battery industry shows the increasing integration of the energy, manufacturing, and technology sectors.
