Jakarta – The Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulfattah A.K. Al-Sattiri, has affirmed that Indonesia’s participation in the Gaza Board of Peace (BoP) represents the country’s commitment to advocating for Palestinian authority presence in the Gaza Strip within the framework of that forum.

“I know that Indonesia has asked other countries to allow Palestinian police to enter Gaza to protect their people, and many Arab nations have requested the United States to permit Palestinian police entry into Gaza to safeguard and serve their communities,” the ambassador stated.

The ambassador made these remarks at an Iftar reception hosted by the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta on Friday evening.

According to him, only the Palestinian people themselves and honest individuals worldwide, such as the Indonesian people, can protect Palestinians. He conveyed that Palestinians in Gaza desire two things: an end to the conflict and a dignified life in the territory.

“My people need water, medicines, schools and universities. Any country can support my people in Gaza and enter there to provide assistance to Palestinians,” he said.

During the occasion, he also expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s strong support for Palestinians in Gaza, which he valued as crucial in helping them survive and continue their lives in their homeland.

“We are proud that Indonesia supports the Palestinian people. Our people cannot live in Gaza and continue their struggle without support from others. This is significant support for continuing our struggle and remaining in our land in Gaza,” he stated.

The ambassador noted that despite dire conditions, with killings of Palestinians occurring daily, the population refuses to leave Gaza and will remain steadfast there.

“We have nothing left because Israeli forces have destroyed more than 85 per cent of our homes,” he added.

Nevertheless, he called on the world to witness the determination of the Palestinian people in achieving Palestinian independence.

“Look into the eyes of our children. You will know that the Palestinian people will continue to struggle to see Palestine free. Palestine will be free. God willing,” he concluded.
