Indomobil sales drop
BANDUNG (JP): Car maker Indomobil's sales dropped to 60,000 vehicles last year from 70,000 in 1995, managing director Gunadi Sindhuwinata said yesterday.
Gunadi attributed the drop to the 14 percent decline in the domestic automobile markets last year.
"The low purchasing power of customers was the cause of the market decline," he said, dismissing assumptions that the introduction of cheaper national cars last year caused the drop.
Indomobil is currently raising the production of car components at home to increase the local content of the cars it assembled. (ahy/02)
