Indofood's sales rises 21%

JAKARTA (JP): Indofood Sukses Makmur, a noodle producer listed
on the Jakarta and Surabaya stock exchanges, reported an increase
of 21 percent in its net sales to Rp 976.9 billion (US$454.37
million) in the first nine months of this year.

The company announced on Saturday that its before-tax profit
rose by 225 percent to Rp 359.2 billion in the January-September
period from Rp 110.3 billion in the corresponding period of last
year, while its operating profits increased by 200 percent to Rp
213.2 billion from Rp 70.9 billion.

Its after-tax profit rose to Rp 145.6 billion from Rp 50
billion.

The company said that the significant rise in sales was mainly
due to a 40 percent increase in the production of instant noodle,
to 4.5 billion packs in the January-September period.(hen)
