In addition to Silmy Karim, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained a total of eight individuals as suspects in a corruption case involving the processing of permits for foreign nationals (WNA) to reside in Indonesia.

One of those detained is the Vice Minister of Immigration and Penitentiary (Imipas), Silmy Karim. Silmy surrendered to the KPK and was questioned for approximately 10 hours.

In addition to Silmy, the KPK also detained the former Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024-2025 period, Saffar Muhammad Godam (SMG), and the Head of the Regional Office (Kakanwil) of the Directorate General of Immigration for West Java, Jaya Saputra (JS).

Also detained were the Head of the Sub-Directorate for the Transfer of Residence Permits at the Directorate General of Immigration, Tessar Bayu Setyaji (TBS); the Head of the Sub-Directorate at the Directorate of Residence Permits, Bagus Bramantyo (BGS); the Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office in West Jakarta for 2025-2026, Ronald Arman Abdullah (RAA).

Furthermore, the Head of the ITAS Transfer Team, Juniadi Sri Priambudi (JSP), and Staff of the Sub-Directorate of Residence Permits, Gusti Benardiansyah (GST), were also detained.

The KPK previously revealed that the alleged criminal acts committed by Silmy Karim occurred while he was serving as Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) during the 2023-2024 period.

Silmy was appointed as Director General of Immigration on January 4, 2023, and his term ended on October 21, 2024, coinciding with his appointment as Vice Minister of Immigration and Penitentiary.

“Director General of Immigration 2023-2024,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at his office when confirmed about the time frame in which the alleged crimes occurred on Wednesday (June 3) evening.

Budi has not yet been able to provide information regarding the articles that will be used against the individuals caught in the Surprise Operation (OTT) in Jakarta, West Java, and Bali on June 2-3, 2026.

“Regarding the construction of the charges, we will wait because tonight there will still be an exposé (case presentation). Whether the charges will be under Article 12e for extortion, bribery, or other forms of acceptance, we will wait and see. We will update you later,” said Budi.
