Imported used clothes
Imported used clothes
From Bisnis Indonesia
Indonesians are fond of consuming used goods ranging from used
aircraft, rail cars, buses, luxury cars, factory machines,
electronics, paper, to used clothes and other products.
Some of these goods are imported legally and others are
contraband. Indonesia is capable of producing such goods but they
are more expensive or their quality lower than imported used
commodities.
The country already has an aircraft industry, shipyards,
railway plants as well as automotive, machine and electronic
manufacturing industries, let alone its hundreds of textile
factories. But the question is: can they produce cheap and good
quality material?
Of course not. If they could, the common people in Indonesia
would buy new, cheap and high quality clothes. Why can't they
produce good fabrics?
Members of Indonesian Textile Manufacturers Association (API)
should study the matter before judging others. Indonesian textile
plants -- particularly the large ones fussing about imported used
clothes -- import and operate used textile machines.
