Alhamdulillah, as of 18 April 2026, the immunisation coverage for children in Gowa Regency has reached 5,881 children or 101.60 percent. Meanwhile, the input on the ASIK application records 5,985 children or 101.8 percent,” said Gowa Regent Sitti Husniah Talenrang while receiving a visit from the General Chair of the TP PKK, Tri Tito Karnavian, at Baruga Tinggimae, the Regent’s Official Residence, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

Husniah explained that previously, the central government had targeted 5,787 children to participate in IZD. Through cross-sectoral collaboration, the Gowa Regency Government then exceeded that target with an achievement of up to 101.6 percent.

Husniah stated that this success was inseparable from various strategic steps taken. The Gowa Regency Government actively strengthened data collection based on by name by address, mobilised Posyandu cadres and TP PKK down to the village level, and approached by directly visiting target households.

Husniah then acknowledged that the challenges in the field were quite significant. However, appropriate and measured interventions were deemed capable of producing significant achievements.

“The main challenge now is no longer access to services, but public perception and trust. Therefore, the role of TP PKK, community leaders, and religious figures is very important in building collective awareness,” she said.

Husniah is optimistic that the zero-dose reduction target can be achieved towards elimination. Husniah then invited all sectors to support the implementation of this programme.

“We invite all parties to ensure that every child gets their right to a healthy life through complete immunisation. Because one child who is not immunised is one risk to our shared future,” Husniah urged.

Meanwhile, Tri Tito Karnavian appreciated the achievement of the Gowa Regency Government. She described Gowa Regency as the region with the best achievement in implementing IZD.

“An achievement of over 101 percent is teamwork. From the provinces we have visited, South Sulawesi, Gowa Regency, is the best. This is not easy, because behind the numbers there are children whose future we must protect,” said Tri.

Tri hopes that the achievement attained by the Gowa Regency Government can serve as an example for all regions in Indonesia. She added the need for support in strengthening the PKK’s role through various health programmes, including handling TB and other infectious diseases.

“This project must become an example or best practice for all PKK throughout Indonesia and we will give recognition,” she concluded.

South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, who was also present, appreciated the achievement. He described it as the result of collective cross-sectoral work.

“Thank you to all parties who have participated. Including support from the Provincial Health Office which continues to conduct intensive coordination, especially to the sub-district with the highest achievement, namely Pallangga as first place, followed by Somba Opu and Bontomarannu,” said Andi Sudirman.
