“The formation of the Dharma Dewata Immigration Patrol Task Force is a concrete step in maintaining Bali’s stability and security. We understand that Bali holds a strategic position, so monitoring the presence and activities of foreigners is a necessity,” the Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, said on Wednesday.

He explained that the task force is targeted to conduct early detection, prevention, and enforcement of potential immigration violations.

“The role of immigration is not merely providing services but also safeguarding security and national sovereignty. When national security is threatened, public safety is also at risk, and our sovereignty may be compromised. That is why we will conduct patrols and have established a dedicated team,” Marantoko explained.

In the implementation, he stated that immigration patrols will monitor the activities of foreign nationals, not just for violations.

Action will be taken against any violations discovered. However, even in the absence of violations, the presence of officers in Bali will at least make foreign nationals aware that authorities are monitoring the area to ensure security.

“We are not closing ourselves off. We have two policies: welcoming foreign nationals who add value to society and refusing those who do not, particularly those who disrupt order and security,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Bali Governor Wayan Koster thanked the formation of this task force, as these patrols are crucial for addressing a number of cases caused by foreigners in his region.

“The Bali Provincial Government greatly appreciates this and will continue to collaborate in handling tourists and foreigners in Bali, especially in enforcing order and taking action against those who violate the law,” he remarked.

He mentioned that recent incidents have frequently occurred that disrupt the atmosphere of comfort and security, which can impact the existence of tourism.

In the period from January 1 to April 12, 2026, the Bali Immigration Office has carried out administrative immigration actions in the form of 165 deportations and 62 detention actions against foreigners.
