Iman Brotoseno Announces Resignation as TVRI President Director
Iman Brotoseno announced his resignation as President Director of TVRI during the broadcaster’s weekly meeting, held in a hybrid format on Monday, 23 February 2026. The meeting was attended by the entire TVRI board of directors, heads of work units, and heads of TVRI broadcasting stations across Indonesia.
Iman cited health recovery as the reason for stepping down. “I have decided to resign so that I can focus on my health condition,” Iman said in a written statement on Monday.
The TVRI Board of Supervisors responded to Iman’s decision by processing his resignation in accordance with Government Regulation Number 4 of 2024 concerning the Public Broadcasting Institution Television of the Republic of Indonesia. Within a maximum of 14 days after receiving Iman’s resignation letter, the Board of Supervisors will hold a session to approve or reject the request.
Iman maintained that the decision was purely driven by medical factors. He claimed there was no outside influence in his decision-making. “There is no political pressure or threat of violence against me. I am resigning purely for health reasons,” Iman said.
Iman’s resignation drew a response from TVRI Board of Supervisors Chairman Agus Sudibyo. Agus expressed appreciation for Iman’s performance and contributions. He also urged all TVRI employees to continue carrying out the public broadcaster’s functions collectively.
“To the board of directors, unit heads, and all TVRI employees, please remain calm, united, and focused on your respective duties and functions,” Agus said.
News of Iman’s resignation had already spread through excerpts of video recordings from the TVRI meeting circulating on social media. In the video, Iman stated he had discussed his decision to resign with his family and the TVRI Board of Supervisors.
House of Representatives Commission VII member Saleh Partaonan Daulay had previously asked TVRI to confirm the reports to prevent public speculation. Saleh also expressed hope that Iman’s resignation would not disrupt the broadcaster’s operations, particularly preparations for live coverage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Saleh urged TVRI’s board of directors to respond swiftly to the changes in the public broadcaster’s leadership structure. “All existing directors should be able to carry out the core duties that the president director has been handling,” Saleh said in a written statement on Monday, 23 February 2026.
