IKN Authority Strengthens Strategic Synergy for Northern Indonesia's Gateway
Penajam Paser Utara - The Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) is strengthening strategic synergy or cooperation for the northern region of Indonesia with North Kalimantan Province as an effort to support the development of Indonesia’s new capital city being built in part of East Kalimantan Province.
“Strengthening synergy between the development of the new capital city and surrounding areas continues to be carried out,” said the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, on Wednesday, when asked about the development progress of IKN in Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan.
“Particularly with North Kalimantan Province, which has a strategic position as the gateway to northern Indonesia,” he added.
North Kalimantan Province is planned to become an IKN partner area through a cooperation scheme formalised by the Head of Authority Regulation, so that various development programmes can be implemented in a more directed and sustainable manner.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and drive regional economic growth, said the Deputy Governor of North Kalimantan, Ingkong Ala, ensuring that IKN development provides broad benefits to surrounding areas.
North Kalimantan Province can support IKN development, among others, through the development of indigenous villages and culture that have the potential to become tourism destinations, as well as strengthening the management of national parks.
The Dayak people strongly support the IKN development as a great national aspiration, stated the Chairman of the Dayak Customary Council (DAD) of North Kalimantan, Jhonny Laing Impang, and appreciate the IKN Authority making North Kalimantan Province a partner of the new capital city of Indonesia.
