Jakarta (ANTARA) - Dozens of Chinese car manufacturers participated in the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026, the largest automotive exhibition at the beginning of this year, which was held from 5 to 15 February in Jakarta. During the exhibition, these Chinese brands successfully secured many new sales and won a series of awards.

“We appreciate the trust of consumers who have given an extraordinary response during IIMS 2026. The dominance of the Aion UT and the strong interest in Hyptec HT show that the Indonesian market is increasingly mature and ready to accept electric vehicles with advanced technology,” said CEO of GAC Indonesia, Andry Ciu, in his official statement.

GAC Aion, which offered vehicle price discounts during the exhibition, managed to record 2,095 new orders. Almost half of these orders came from the Aion UT, its latest electric car.

Meanwhile, GWM reported a total of 350 orders, three times more than the same exhibition last year. Positive consumer response was also seen in iCar, a new brand that managed to secure around 300 orders from the exhibition. The new brand under the Chery Group successfully secured hundreds of orders even though it was launched for the first time at IIMS 2026 and currently only has one model.

Chinese brands also successfully won a number of awards from the exhibition organizers, both for conventional car and electric vehicle (EV) categories. The Xpeng brand took home two awards for best premium MPV and best premium electric sedan. Meanwhile, the new brand Changan also won two awards for the best medium electric SUV and the most affordable electric car.

“This award is real proof that Changan’s products have been well received by the Indonesian people. This achievement is also a motivation for us to continue to present innovative, high-quality electric vehicles that are relevant to the needs of Indonesian consumers,” said CEO of Changan Indonesia, Setiawan Surya, in his statement.

In addition to these two models, many other Chinese car manufacturers also won awards at the exhibition, such as Geely, GAC Aion, Wuling, DFSK-Seres, Jetour, Baic, and the new brand Zeekr. After the IIMS 2026 event was completed, several of these brands also began to prepare to welcome another major exhibition that will be held in mid-2026.
