IHSG Predicted to Move Sideways, Market Focuses on Global Sentiment
Phintraco Sekuritas research head Ratna Lim projects that the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) has the potential to move sideways during trading from 27 to 30 April 2026. One of the main sentiments that will be in focus is the global situation.
Ratna stated that market participants this week will monitor the direction of monetary policy from central banks in various advanced countries, such as the US Federal Reserve (The Fed), the European Central Bank (ECB), the Bank of England (BoE), and the Bank of Japan (BoJ). “The IHSG is expected to potentially test the psychological level of 7,000 this week,” said Ratna, as quoted from Antara on Monday, 27 April 2026.
During this week’s period, market participants will await the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting of The Fed on Thursday, 29 April, which is expected to maintain the benchmark interest rate at 3.5-3.75%. There will then be meetings of the ECB and BoE, each projected to keep their benchmark interest rates steady at 2.15% and 3.75%, respectively.
The market will also monitor the Bank of Japan (BoJ) meeting on Tuesday, 28 April, which is expected to maintain the benchmark interest rate at 0.75%, despite rising inflation data in Japan.
In addition to the direction of monetary policy from various countries’ central banks, Ratna said market participants will also monitor various releases of US economic data. This data includes consumer confidence, housing, Gross Domestic Product for the first quarter of 2026, personal income, personal spending, the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Prices index, and the ISM Manufacturing Index.
Furthermore, market participants will monitor the release of economic data from the Euro Area, including GDP data for the first quarter of 2026, inflation data, and unemployment rates.
