IHSG Poised to Strengthen After Eid Holiday, These Are the Main Sentiments
JAKARTA — Financial economist and capital market practitioner Hans Kwee projects that the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) will move higher in trading on Wednesday (25/3), following the long holiday for Nyepi Day and Eid al-Fitr 2026. He identifies one of the main sentiments as the latest news from the conflict between the United States (US) and Iran, where US President Donald Trump stated he would delay a military strike on Iran’s power plants and energy facilities for five days.
“The opening of the IHSG on Wednesday is overshadowed by potential selling pressure, but the recovery of financial markets following the postponement of Trump’s attack on Iran’s electricity and energy infrastructure opens opportunities for the IHSG to move in a limited range with support at levels 7,100 to 7,000 and resistance at levels 7,250 to 7,349,” said Hans when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday (24/3/2026).
During the long Eid holiday, Hans explained that global financial markets experienced high volatility due to uncertainty over the war between the US and Israel against Iran.
Trump issued a threat to destroy Iran’s electricity facilities if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened within 48 hours.
In response to the threat, Iran retaliated with threats to destroy energy and oil infrastructure in the Gulf region if its power facilities were attacked.
Ultimately, on Monday (23/3), Trump announced he would delay his military strike on Iran’s power plants and energy facilities for five days.
Trump’s statement drove gains in stock markets on Wall Street in the US and European stock exchanges during trading on Monday (23/3).
“European equity markets strengthened after the postponement of Trump’s attack. The European Union and Asia regions are highly affected by energy prices due to dependence on imports via the Strait of Hormuz,” said Hans.
Nevertheless, Hans noted that Trump’s statement about constructive talks to ease tensions in the Middle East has been denied by Iran, and Iran has launched new attacks on Israel as well as several locations in the Middle East.
