IHSG Falls 1.37 Per Cent to 7,039 in First Session, 564 Stocks Decline
JAKARTA – The Composite Stock Index (IHSG) closed in negative territory at the end of the first trading session on Monday, 16 March 2026. Selling pressure continued to dominate, resulting in the index declining more than 1 per cent.
Based on trading data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI), the IHSG fell 97.80 points or 1.37 per cent to 7,039.41.
Throughout the morning session, the IHSG opened at 7,115.45, lower than the previous close of 7,137.21. The IHSG briefly touched a high of 7,120.19 before coming under renewed pressure.
Trading activity was notably brisk. Total transaction volume reached 17.62 billion shares with a transaction value of approximately Rp 8.229 trillion and trading frequency of 1.014 million transactions.
Of all traded shares, 564 stocks declined, 176 stocks advanced, and 218 stocks remained unchanged.
Several major stock indices also fell into negative territory. The LQ45 Index declined 1.57 per cent to 716.92, whilst the Jakarta Islamic Index (JII) weakened 2.55 per cent to 460.35.
The KOMPAS100 index corrected 1.59 per cent to 972.82, the IDX30 index fell 0.91 per cent to 388.28, and the ISSI index weakened 1.75 per cent to 244.96.
The raw materials sector weakened 2.02 per cent, the energy sector fell 1.75 per cent, and the transport and logistics sector corrected 1.12 per cent.
Declines also occurred in the technology sector, which fell 0.80 per cent, the non-essential consumer goods sector which weakened approximately 0.73 per cent, the financial sector which fell 0.58 per cent, and the infrastructure sector which corrected 0.55 per cent.
On the other hand, several sectors managed to remain in positive territory. The industrial sector rose 0.31 per cent, whilst the healthcare sector remained relatively stable with a marginal gain of approximately 0.01 per cent.
In the LQ45 index, shares of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA) became the top loser after falling 7.40 per cent to Rp 61,975 per share. This was followed by shares of PT Barito Pacific Tbk (BRPT) which weakened 6.20 per cent to Rp 1,285 per share, and PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMN) which fell 5.86 per cent to Rp 4,660 per share.
Meanwhile, shares advancing in the LQ45 group were led by PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA) which rose 7.81 per cent to Rp 276 per share.
