IHSG Closes Down at 6,905 Level Despite Delay in Mining Royalties
The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) closed weaker on Monday afternoon (11/5/2026), down 63.78 points or 0.92% to 6,905.62.
The IHSG experienced a limited rebound after the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) decided to postpone the implementation of mining commodity royalty tariffs. “After continuing the correction in the first session, the IHSG saw a limited rebound following reports that the Minister of ESDM has delayed the plan to implement mining commodity royalty tariffs for copper, tin, nickel, gold, and silver in order to prepare a more optimal and fair formula for all parties,” said Head of Research at Phintraco Sekuritas, Ratna Lim, in her analysis in Jakarta on Monday.
Nevertheless, Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa assured that the regulations adjusting mining company royalty tariffs will begin to apply in early June 2026, followed by the issuance of a Presidential Regulation (Perpres).
This plan was also considered a factor that kept the IHSG in the red zone at the close of trading today. “The weakening of the rupiah to above Rp 17,400 per US dollar also added to the negative sentiment,” Ratna explained.
Meanwhile, the majority of indices on Asian exchanges also closed weaker in line with the rise in crude oil prices after US President Donald Trump rejected a peace proposal from Iran. With these various sentiments, Phintraco projects that the IHSG will continue to weaken and test support levels around 6,750-6,850.
Throughout the trading session, 263 stocks strengthened, 463 weakened, and 233 were stagnant. The BEI market capitalisation was recorded at Rp 12,283 trillion.
Today’s trading activity reached 39.08 billion shares with a frequency of 2.8 million transactions, while the transaction value was recorded at Rp 20.41 trillion.
By sector, only the infrastructure sector still recorded a gain of 1.52% at the close of trading today.
Conversely, declines occurred in the transportation sector by 2.88%, energy sector 2.02%, financial sector 1.74%, industrial sector 1.46%, health sector 1.05%, primary consumer goods sector 0.88%, property sector 0.80%, technology sector 0.53%, basic materials sector 0.19%, and non-primary consumer goods sector 0.13%.
