IFEX 2026 Furniture Exhibition Achieves Rp5 Trillion in Transaction Value
Jakarta — The Indonesia International Furniture Expo (IFEX) 2026, a business-to-business furniture and crafts exhibition held from 5–8 March 2026 at ICE BSD City, recorded on-the-spot transaction values totalling USD300 million, equivalent to Rp5 trillion (at an exchange rate of Rp16,863 per dollar).
The four-day event attracted 13,437 registered buyers and visitors and brought together approximately 500 Indonesian furniture producers with purchasers from various countries. HIMKI chairman Abdul Sobur said the exhibition served as a strategic platform for the national furniture and crafts industry to expand export markets and introduce Indonesia’s innovative designs and premium products to the world.
The significant transaction value demonstrates that Indonesian furniture possesses strong competitiveness in global markets, according to Sobur. “The enthusiasm of visitors and this year’s transaction achievements show that Indonesian furniture has strong competitive advantages in the global market,” he stated.
Sobur emphasised that IFEX’s importance extended beyond immediate business transactions, delivering substantial economic impact for the Indonesian furniture and crafts sector. Through the exhibition, local producers—ranging from large enterprises to small and medium-sized businesses—gained opportunities to expand business networks, increase export volumes, and showcase Indonesia’s design wealth and craftsmanship to global markets.
Dyandra Promosindo president director Daswar Marpaung noted that IFEX generated multiplier effects across related sectors including logistics, hospitality, transportation, and others. “The exhibition provides a strategic space for producers, buyers, designers, and business operators to meet directly, establish new partnerships, and explore business collaboration opportunities,” he stated.
China represented the largest source of buyers attending IFEX 2026, followed by the European Union, Australia, the United States, India, Singapore, Japan, and Malaysia. In total, buyers from 86 countries attended the exhibition. “The presence of buyers from various regions, despite current geopolitical circumstances, demonstrates that these are quality buyers who continue to trust IFEX as their business destination,” Marpaung added.
Domestic market interest also showed increasingly positive trends this year. Several exhibitors reported securing agreements for various local projects, particularly in the property sector, including short-term rental accommodation and similar hospitality concepts. Natural material products, including stone, solid wood, and fibres, proved particularly popular, aligning with growing property owner preferences for wellness living concepts that create peaceful, comfortable atmospheres with natural elements.
The furniture and crafts collections displayed showcased not only superior materials and production techniques but also demonstrated the Indonesian furniture industry’s ability to track and respond to global market trends and demands. “We believe the industry will continue growing. There remain many opportunities to pursue increased export value, accompanied by improvements in product quality regarding design, sustainability, and marketing,” Sobur concluded.
