During the Idul Adha 1447 Hijriah, the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) distributed sacrificial animals across various regions in Indonesia. Under the theme ‘Kemendikdasmen Spreads Sacrifice for the Nation’, the initiative reflects social concern, sharing spirit, and brotherhood towards the community.

During a visit to Sorong, West Papua, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti presented a 720kg sacrificial cow. The handover symbolised Kemendikdasmen’s care and solidarity with eastern Indonesia’s communities.

At the Idul Adha sermon in Sorong, the minister stressed that the essence of qurbani extends beyond the slaughter itself, serving as a means to enhance piety and compassion for others.

‘We are guided to perform the sacrifice, drawing closer to Allah by drawing closer to fellow humans through charity and concern,’ he said on Wednesday (27 May).

Addressing hundreds of worshippers, the minister urged strengthening faith, building strong families, and fostering goodness in local communities. He highlighted the importance of emulating Prophet Ibrahim and his family as figures of resilience, optimism, and problem-solving for society.

‘Through such emulation, we move beyond ritual to cultivate social compassion and a spirit of sacrifice, ensuring our lives benefit others,’ he added.

This year, Kemendikdasmen collected 159 sacrificial animals—117 cattle and 42 goats—from main units, central offices, and technical implementation units nationwide. The total is expected to yield around 18,100kg of meat, distributed to approximately 18,000 beneficiaries across 35 provinces from Aceh to Papua.

The Idul Adha prayer, led by Ustaz Sahid Darajat, bore the theme ‘Idul Adha: A Moment to Weave Togetherness and Compassion for Fellow Humans’.

The Bali Regional Police distributed 16 cattle and 29 goats at Masjid AT Taqwa, with an additional 19 cattle and 32 goats from its personnel.

Cianjur Regent Muhammad Wahyu Ferdian stated that 11 cattle and 11 sheep were slaughtered at Cianjur Grand Mosque’s DKM.

The sacrificial cow named ‘Sheva’ will be slaughtered at Ciroyom Animal Slaughterhouse (RPH) and distributed to recipients in Bandung the same day.

A 1.1-ton sacrificial cow from Banyumas Regency, sourced from local farmers, was distributed through the regency government.

Roda Amal, in partnership with HWDI, delivered the animals to disabled beneficiaries and local residents.

A Simmental bull purchased from Teguh Topo (35), a cattle farmer in Ploso Village, Purwantoro Subdistrict, Wonogiri Regency, was also part of the distribution.
