IDR 400 Billion Investment in Harris Hotel Reinforces SMRA's Dominance in Summarecon Serpong
JAKARTA — Three decades ago, public perception of Serpong was merely that of a marginal area with fragmented residential pockets. Today, Serpong has transformed into the new epicentre of economic growth in the Greater Jakarta region.
One of the latest landmarks affirming this transformation is the inauguration of Harris Hotel & Convention Serpong by PT Summarecon Agung Tbk. (SMRA) on Friday, 13 March 2026.
With an investment value reaching IDR 400 billion, this project represents a strategic calculation to strengthen the company’s recurring income structure and consolidate the region’s position as a regional hub. A regional hub is defined as a region’s capacity to independently absorb capital and human flows without full dependence on Jakarta.
SMRA President Director Adrianto P. Adhi emphasised that the hotel is a vital infrastructure instrument. “The presence of Harris Hotel & Convention Serpong strengthens the position of Summarecon Serpong as a centre for economic, business, and meeting activities serving the Serpong region and its surroundings,” Adrianto stated.
This strategy functions as a financial buffer that maintains stability of cash flow. Hotels and malls serve as anchors ensuring money circulation remains within the internal ecosystem of the city.
This is why the developer has implemented a lifestyle ecosystem experience concept, which also differentiates it from other hotels in the same region. Through physical integration with Summarecon Mall Serpong (SMS), the developer has created seamless connectivity.
As explained by SMRA Director Soegianto Nagaria, this seamless connectivity concept allows retail activities, lifestyle experiences, and short stays (staycations) to be conducted in one location without the need to relocate. Additionally, a strategic collaboration with The Ascott Limited has been established for more than 10 years, and the consistency of the Harris brand has proven capable of meeting market expectations.
