IDF Soldiers Ambushed After Disembarking from Helicopter; Son of Israeli Finance Minister Seriously Wounded in Southern Lebanon
Beirut — Israeli fighter helicopters attempted to pierce eastern Lebanon’s skies near the town of Nabi Sheet on Friday dawn (6 March 2026). The plan for a rapid Zionist landing turned into a nightmare when Hizbullah, the Lebanese resistance group, managed to trap them in a deadly ambush through intense close-quarters fighting.
A correspondent from Al Mayadeen reported the scene in the Syrian mountains bordering eastern Lebanon. Three Israeli helicopters were seen landing on a high plateau under a hail of machine-gun fire and anti-aircraft artillery.
To rescue their troops trapped in Nabi Sheet, the Israeli Air Force was forced to create a ‘fire belt’ through intensive air strikes as a shield for their withdrawal manoeuvre.
Using a combination of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and Kornet anti-tank missiles, they pounded the line of Israeli combat vehicles.
Israeli media described the situation in Khiam as ‘very critical’. The Israeli military was reported to be struggling to evacuate its surrounded special forces unit in the area.
In the chaos, the IDF acknowledged at least eight soldiers seriously wounded, including the son of Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who was serving with the Givati Brigade.
