ICPW Urges Tanjung Priok Port Police Chief to Reveal THR Letter Case
The Indonesian Civilian Police Watch (ICPW) has urged AKBP Aris Wibowo, the Kapolres Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok, to reveal the case concerning a letter bearing the heading of the Tanjung Priok Port Police Office that requested assistance from a number of transport operators affiliated with the Indonesian Trucking Entrepreneurs Association (Aptrindo) in the Tanjung Priok area, North Jakarta. “The police chief must have the courage to investigate and immediately reveal the identity of the person responsible for this disturbance so that the public can regain trust,” said ICPW chair Bambang Suranto in Jakarta on Friday. He emphasised that if the action was carried out by internal elements of the Tanjung Priok Port Police, the Chief of Police must take a firm stance by imposing sanctions on the individual. “AKBP Aris Wibowo, as the Chief of Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok Port Police, should be able to uncover this issue as quickly as possible,” Bambang said. In addition, he asked that the public not immediately believe rumours about a THR money-demand letter purportedly on behalf of the Tanjung Priok Port Police to transport companies in Jakarta. According to him, the police image is currently tarnished. However, the police are continuing to improve and reform to become better. “We ask the public to support so that the Polri becomes better in the future,” Bambang said. “This could be the act of parties who dislike the Tanjung Priok Port Police and deliberately want to smear or damage the image of the police, which has provided good service in the Tanjung Priok port area,” he added. Earlier, a letter bearing the heading of Polres Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok with number B/01/III/2026/Sat Lantas and subject ‘Participation in Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah/2026’ to the Director/Leader of PT KPA Transport Company dated 4 March 2026 circulated. In that letter, it stated that Sat Lantas Polres Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok sought assistance for THR. However, the letter used a stamp and the sender’s name was listed as “Staff” without a clear name and NRP. The Port Police Resort of Tanjung Priok Zone denied having issued such a THR request letter to Aptrindo, citing photos of the letter circulating on social media platforms. “Polres Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok did not issue that letter,” said AKBP Aris Wibowo, Chief of Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok Port Police, in Jakarta on Thursday (5/3).
