Ibas Yudhoyono Facilitates 500 Migrant Workers' Homecoming for Eid 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) — Vice Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, commonly known as Ibas, has facilitated 500 migrant workers in returning to their hometowns during the Eid 2026 celebration through a free homecoming programme titled “Safe Journey, More Comfortable Family Bonds”.
According to a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, Ibas said that state presence is crucial in ensuring public welfare, including through the free homecoming programme that helps alleviate the financial burden on citizens.
“The state must be present today to ensure that we oversee it, the government today must be present for us to support so that everything conceived and produced truly benefits the broader population,” he said.
The free homecoming involved approximately 500 migrant workers from Pacitan, Magetan, Ngawi, Ponorogo, and Trenggalek. Ibas noted that this programme represents the state’s commitment to ensuring that no citizens face difficulties during the current circumstances.
“The state must also extend its hand to provide mercy and compassion, including through free homecoming programmes to meet citizens and families, and to return to beloved hometowns,” he added.
He encouraged participants to use the homecoming journey as an opportunity for spiritual reflection and strengthening family bonds.
“Homecoming is a tradition of our nation; it is one way for us to undertake our spiritual journey. Meeting citizens and families with strong interpersonal and family relationships and familial bonds,” he said.
Ibas also reminded participants of simple yet profound life values so that each individual can become a person beneficial to others. This reflects the Javanese philosophical concept “urip iku urup” (life is light).
“Be grateful if we have employment, be grateful if we have the opportunity to increase our livelihood, and be grateful if we have abundance, at that time we can share with our brothers and sisters in our hometowns,” he said.
Ibas hoped that all free homecoming participants would undertake their journey safely and return with renewed spirit. He also reminded drivers to exercise caution and drive safely throughout their journey.
