Hyundai's disk plant

BEIJING (AFP): South Korea's Hyundai Electronics will set up a US$150 million computer hard disk drive factory in the northeastern Chinese city of Dalian, the official Xinhua news agency reported yesterday.

Construction of the venture, Hyundai Electronics (Dalian) Co. Ltd., is expected to be complete by late 1998.

General manager Peter Shinn was quoted as saying it will export 100 percent of its output and employ 5,000 people.

Hard disk drives are essential components in personal computers.
