Hypnotized at the restaurant
Hypnotized at the restaurant
From Kompas
It was one afternoon when I had lunch in a fast-food restaurant in Mal Ciputra, West Jakarta, that a man of Chinese descent, aged between 30 and 40, rather stocky with hair like porcupine spines, approached me and asked to sit at my table. As I like to have friends, I welcomed him.
After telling me his story for quite a while, he said he had just returned from the States a week ago and that he had with him a number of goods. He showed me the photocopy of his passport and USA Visa. I was interested in one of the items he offered as the price was reasonable. Then he asked me if I had cash, and I said I did not. I told him, though, that I could use my ATM BCA card. He was happy to hear it as he had a BCA account and I therefore could simply transfer the money to his account.
After the talk, he said I could see the goods at home and take the items I am interested in, and then transfer the money. Then he wrote something on a small piece of paper and gave it to me, saying it was the account number to which I had to make the transfer. When I got this small piece of paper I suddenly could no longer control myself, and simply followed him to the nearest ATM to make the transfer. After completing the transfer, I turned back and, in a matter of seconds, came to my senses and could think clearly. I realized to my horror that I had made the transfer.
The transfer slip shows the name of Emilia Erlie and the
photocopy of the passport, which he had left behind, shows the
following details: Wongso Sujono, born in Belawan. Passport of
the Republic of Indonesia No. K011563, issued by West Jakarta
Immigration office dated Jan. 12, 2000. The photocopy of the USA
Visa is also under the same name with control number
20010128860002, valid between Jan. 18, 2001 and Jan. 16, 2005,
with a code inscription in the lower part of the visa reading;
