Hybrid Online-Offline Schooling After Eid 2026 Cancelled
Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu’ti has affirmed that teaching and learning activities will continue at schools following the series of Eid al-Fitr holidays in 2026. He stated that the proposal for hybrid teaching and learning (online and offline) has been cancelled, considering academic aspects and the strengthening of students’ character education. “In line with the results of the inter-ministerial meeting on 23 March, learning at schools will proceed as usual, taking into account academic considerations and character education strengthening,” said Mendikdasmen Mu’ti, quoted by Antara on Wednesday (25/3). On a separate occasion, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Pratikno said that learning can proceed as normal, with students attending school for the learning process. “Students’ learning will continue as usual,” said Pratikno. He added that there had indeed been discussions about the possibility of using a hybrid method combining offline and online approaches. However, he continued, given the importance of maintaining the quality of students’ education, online learning for students is not an urgency at this time. “In line with the extraordinary priority given by the President to the education sector, from school revitalisation, Sekolah Rakyat, and Sekolah Unggul Garuda, we must accelerate the improvement of education quality, both under the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. This is a priority. This is paramount,” he stated. The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture also conveyed the importance of ensuring that the students’ learning process continues as usual. According to him, in the education sector, the learning process must be increasingly optimal and learning loss must not occur. Therefore, he said, the organisation of the learning process will continue offline for students. “The same applies to essential medical services, which will operate fully normally,” Pratikno emphasised.
