The government is accelerating preparations for permanent housing (huntap) for disaster victims in Aceh Tamiang through inter-agency coordination and resolving issues related to General Usage Rights (HGU) land. Head of the Accelerated Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) Command Post, Safrizal ZA, alongside the DPR RI Disaster Management Coordination Coordinator, TA Khalid, led a meeting at the Aceh Tamiang Regency Office to expedite huntap land preparations. Attendees included the Regent’s Deputy Ismail, Head of DJBN Aceh Region Zulkarnain, representatives from the Directorate General of Highways (DJBM) Thabrani, Head of Sumatra I River Basin Office (BWS) Asy’ari, and local government and HGU-holding companies.

The meeting focused on the readiness of 40 communal huntap sites proposed by the Aceh Tamiang Regency Government. Thirty-seven sites are ready for construction, while three others face delays due to HGU land release negotiations. The three companies involved are PT Perkebunan Semadam, PT Perkebunan Pertanian Pati Sari, and PT Evans Indonesia (operating as PT Simpang Kiri Plantations). Land release from PT Perkebunan Nusantara, PT Padang Palma Permai, PT Socfindo, PT Desa Jaya, and PT Bahruni has been fully completed.

Safrizal ZA proposed accelerating construction through administrative documents confirming land release as a preliminary basis for local government to begin building while awaiting asset transfer processes. “As a speed-up solution, bridging administrative documents confirming HGU land release are needed as a preliminary basis for the local government to commence construction on HGU land while waiting for asset transfer administrative processes to conclude,” Safrizal said. The former Acting Governor of Aceh also urged the local government to calculate huntap land needs based on the Ministry of Public Works’ assessment of housing and public facility requirements.

TA Khalid demanded the local government swiftly resolve coordination with HGU-holding companies to finalise land release. “Of the companies involved, three remain unresolved. We are waiting; the deadline is tomorrow, Sunday, 24 May 2026, at 12:00 WIB. If they continue to reject government requests, the Regent will send a letter to the Government Task Force and DPR RI Task Force,” Khalid stated.

Safrizal emphasised the government is urgently restoring Aceh post-disaster, with huntap land requirements being relatively small compared to the total HGU land managed by companies. He also stressed that huntap site selection underwent social, economic, cultural, and disaster assessments, ensuring it was not done arbitrarily. Following the meeting, the delegation inspected HGU sites in Bukit Rata Village, a huntap construction point, and visited Huntara 3 Bukit Rata, a temporary housing site, to deliver kitchen equipment to 72 households. The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) received sacrificial animals from PT Graha Sarana Duta (TelkomProperty) to distribute to flood-affected areas in Aceh Tamiang.
