Musi Banyuasin, VIVA – Musi Banyuasin Police (Polres Muba) are taking firm, uncompromising action to secure the smooth flow of Eid travel and return journeys in 2026. Goods transport vehicles with three or more axles that still dare to pass through are immediately stopped, impounded, and turned back. Hundreds of trucks, including those with six axles, have been caught in raids and are not permitted to continue their journeys on the East Cross Road (Jalintim) or Central Cross Road (Jalinteng) in the Muba area. This strict enforcement is aimed at preventing severe congestion on the main routes used by holiday travellers. Muba Police Chief, AKBP Ruri Prastowo, emphasised that no tolerance is given for violations during the restriction period. A total of 130 vehicles with three or more axles had been turned back and impounded by Wednesday, 25 March 2026, at 1:00 PM WIB, with even more actions taken. “There is no tolerance. Vehicles with three or more axles that still pass through are immediately acted upon, either by turning them back or impounding them to prevent continuation of the journey. This is a firm step to anticipate congestion and ensure that the outbound and return flows run smoothly,” he asserted. He continued that Polres Muba has imposed operational restrictions on goods transport since 13 to 29 March 2026 as part of Eid security measures. This policy is intended to ease the significant surge in vehicle volume during the mudik period. “These restrictions aim to reduce traffic density so that public travel is safer and more comfortable. We ask all goods transport drivers to comply with the applicable rules,” he said. The restricted vehicles include goods trucks with three or more axles, vehicles with trailers and articulated lorries, as well as transport of mining products, quarried materials, and construction materials. “Exceptions are given for vehicles carrying BBM and BBG on a delay system, logistics for basic needs, and emergency response vehicles,” he explained. His side also urged holiday travellers not to neglect their physical condition during the return journey. Drivers are expected to rest periodically to avoid fatigue that could lead to accidents. “We urge all holiday travellers to rest if they feel tired, and to ensure their vehicles are in good condition and roadworthy before continuing the journey,” he said.
