Hundreds of QR Code Stickers Linked to Online Gambling Spread Across Jakarta; Stickerer Paid Rp100,000 per Sticker
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Police disclosed that SH alias P (37) pasted hundreds of QR code stickers linking to online gambling sites (judol) across various areas in Jakarta. This was revealed after SH was arrested following his appearance applying a judol QR code sticker in Petukangan Selatan, Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, 10 February 2026.
“Preliminary statements indicate more than a hundred QR codes have been distributed. Therefore, we urge the public to be cautious,” said Pesanggrahan Police Chief (Kompol) Seala Syah Alam at a press conference on Thursday, 5 March 2026.
In addition to directing users to judol sites, this modus operandi could also be used to steal personal data. “Thus personal data can be transferred directly. Because this is a scam that might lead to deposits on the online gambling site, deposits may be made automatically,” Seala explained.
For members of the public who believe they scanned a QR code suspected of being a scam or judol, the Cyber Crime Directorate of Metro Jaya Police opened a complaint post for follow-up.
Seala confirmed that P has been arrested, while two associates, F and A, are still being pursued.
P, as the implementer who pasted the QR code stickers, was paid Rp 100,000 for each sticker attached.
