Hundreds of people on Indonesia's resort island of Bali, where a
2002 terror attack claimed 202 lives, remembered victims of last
week's London bombings with two minutes of silence. Residents and
foreign tourists gathered at Bali's ground zero -- a vacant lot
that once housed two crowded nightclubs -- holding candles and
bowing their heads, said Bagiana Karang, a village chief in the
tourist area of Kuta. "We gathered here to express our
solidarity, our sympathy and condolences with the victims and
their families," Karang said of the London terror attacks that
killed at least 52 people. "We can feel their sorrow." -- AP

'No country safe
from terror attacks'

French President Jacques Chirac warned on Thursday during a
national Bastille Day interview that no one in the world was safe
from terrorist acts like the deadly bombings that rocked London
last week. "No country in the world is safe from attacks," Chirac
said. "These terrorists have a mentality, a psychological state
that is different from our own. All efforts must be made to fight
against terrorism," the French president added. "With respect to
terrorism, we must constantly adapt our means and ability to
respond. We never know what they are going to come up with next."
