The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded 439 people still displaced at various locations due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall on 7 and 8 March 2026. BPBD Jakarta Executive Chief Isnawa Adji stated that hundreds of evacuees were distributed across four subdistricts.

In Kedaung Kali Angke subdistrict, West Jakarta, three mosques in the area were designated as evacuation shelters for affected residents. A total of 138 people from 44 households were sheltering in this subdistrict.

In Kembangan Selatan subdistrict, West Jakarta, 130 people were evacuated to At Taqwa Mosque and Darul Muhyi Assembly. In Kembangan Utara subdistrict, West Jakarta, Jami Al Ikhlas Mosque and At Tihanah Prayer Hall accommodated 108 people, whilst SDN 05/08 sheltered 33 individuals.

Jelambar subdistrict, West Jakarta, also still housed flood-displaced residents. A total of 30 people from 10 households remained at At Taqwa Prayer Hall as they were unable to return to their water-inundated homes.

Isnawa noted that several locations in Jakarta remained flooded as of Monday morning, 9 March 2026. “Currently, 16 residential blocks and 2 roads are inundated,” he stated in a statement on Monday, 9 March 2026.

All remaining flood zones from the two-day rainfall were located in West Jakarta. Isnawa stated that Rawa Buaya subdistrict had the most affected areas, with 7 residential blocks still submerged with water depths ranging from 60 to 90 centimetres.

Additionally, four residential blocks in Duri Kosambi subdistrict remained flooded with depths of 30 to 80 centimetres, one residential block in Jelambar subdistrict with a depth of 30 centimetres, and two residential blocks each in Kembangan Selatan and Kembangan Utara subdistricts with depths of 40 to 60 centimetres.

“The flooding was caused by high rainfall and river overflow,” he said. He stated that his team had deployed personnel to monitor flood conditions across Jakarta’s regions, including coordinating relevant agencies to conduct water drainage operations and ensure that water channels were functioning properly.

“Waterlogged areas are targeted to recede within a short timeframe. We urge the public to remain cautious and alert regarding potential further inundation,” he said.
