Hundreds of Jakarta residents hold joint prayers for Ali Khamenei
Hundreds of people gathered at the residence of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Ambassador to Jakarta on Thursday to hold a joint prayer as a show of solidarity with the United States and Israel’s aggression that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Not far from the entrance, several attendees—mostly dressed in black and holding white roses as a sign of mourning—took turns documenting the event with a photo of Ali Khamenei on display.
Elsewhere, attendees were busy writing condolences and signing a petition as a show of solidarity and support for peace and the enforcement of international law.
At around 15:15 WIB, the event began with remarks from the Iranian Ambassador to Indonesia, Mohammad Boroujerdi, who recalled the role of Ali Khamenei, and again asserted that Iran strongly condemned the United States and Israel for the killing of Iranians and hundreds of children in Iran.
The attendees then united in reciting Surah Yasin and engaging in dhikr, and the programme concluded with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, Ayat al-Kursi, and Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas.
The activity ended with a collective prayer for Ali Khamenei, accompanied by tears, symbolising deep sorrow and sympathy for the Supreme Leader’s struggle against the Zionist regime of Israel.
Earlier, on 28 February, the US and Israel launched a series of attacks on multiple targets in Iran, including Tehran, with reports of damage and civilian casualties. Iran’s state television confirmed that the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had died in the attack.
Iran then launched a volley of ballistic missiles in retaliation towards Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East. The escalation in the region occurred amid ongoing nuclear talks in Geneva between the US and Iran, mediated by Oman.
