Jakarta (ANTARA) - Hundreds of interprovincial bus (AKAP) drivers underwent examinations at the Health Post in Tanjung Priok Terminal, North Jakarta, before setting off to ensure the safety of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijriah homecoming transport.

“Since the post opened on Friday (13/3) until Thursday (26/3), services have been provided to 222 people consisting of drivers and AKAP bus passengers,” said the Head of the North Jakarta Health Sub-District Office, Murniasi Hutapea, in Jakarta on Friday.

According to her, the health checks for the bus drivers included blood pressure checks, blood sugar, cholesterol, alcohol level tests, and drug tests.

She said the post was established by the North Jakarta Health Sub-District Office in collaboration with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).

She detailed that 172 drivers have undergone health examinations. Of these, 132 were declared healthy, while 54 others were deemed unfit to travel.

“We also treated 36 homecomers experiencing minor health issues. The most common complaints from patients were coughs, flu, migraines, and body aches due to fatigue during travel,” said Murniasi.

Furthermore, she revealed that the Health Post involves around 10 combined personnel from the Health Sub-District Office, BNN, and representatives from district health centres, who work in shifts.

“We have also prepared one ambulance unit at the terminal to support emergency services,” stated Murniasi.

The presence of the health post is expected to help ensure that the health conditions of drivers and homecomers remain optimal so that journeys proceed safely and smoothly.

The post, opened since H-8 Lebaran, she said, is planned to serve the public until H+8 Lebaran.

“Travel safety is the top priority. We urge the public to utilise this service before continuing their journeys,” revealed Murniasi.
