BANGKALAN, East Java: A businessman celebrated Indonesia's
50th anniversary on Aug. 17 in a unique way: he provided his
whole neighborhood with a giant rice cone, with more than enough
rice for all.

Yohanes, the owner of a department store, used 700 kilograms
of rice and 300 kilograms of fruit to make an eight-meter-tall
rice cone.

"The tumpeng (rice cone) was mainly for the poor," he said, as
quoted by Antara news agency.

"I hope that it will be recorded in the Indonesian Museum of
Records," Yohanes said.(imn)
