HSBC donates social foundations
YOGYAKARTA: In conjunction with the 120th anniversary of the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) Indonesia, the bank donated Rp 120 million to three social foundations under the supervision of Yogyakarta Sultana GKR Hemas.
Company chief executive Richard McHowat presented the donation on Friday to GKR Hemas, accompanied by Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, the Governor of Yogyakarta. The donation was part of the bank's social relationship program, HSBC Kita.
Accompanying McHowat were HSBC Indonesia senior vice president of personal financial services Lily Budiono and HSBC Semarang branch manager Andre Sudjono.
"We will continue sharing our success with the local community, including Yogyakarta, through our HSBC Kita programs that are focused on education, the environment and social welfare. That's part of our commitment to the wealth of the local community," McHowat said.
The donation will be distributed to the Yayasan Sayap Ibu orphanage, the Yayasan Wredha Mulya old people's home and the Indonesian Cancer Foundation.
The bank held other activities to mark its anniversary, providing free English classes, helping out with the renovation of elementary school buildings, supplying textbooks to schools and providing stationery to needy children. --JP
