How to Register MSMEs Online and Obtain Business Identification Numbers via Mobile Phone

| Source: GALERT
The process of registering micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and obtaining a Business Identification Number (NIB) and Business Permit can now be done entirely online using a mobile phone. What previously required time and effort travelling to government offices can now be completed from home or anywhere.

By utilising the risk-based business licensing system through the Online Single Submission (OSS) platform managed by the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, MSME operators can obtain business legality quickly and practically. This forms part of the government's efforts to promote digitalisation and enhance the competitiveness of the MSME sector in Indonesia.

By holding a NIB and Business Permit, MSME operators gain easier access to government programmes, including business assistance, business credit financing, training and business mentoring.

The following outlines the steps for registering an MSME online to obtain a NIB and Business Permit directly from a mobile phone:

Open the official OSS website at https://oss.go.id through a mobile browser. Create an account if you do not yet have one, using a National Identity Number (NIK) that matches your identity card data. Once the account has been created, log in using the registered email and password.

On the OSS dashboard, click the "Business Licensing" menu and select the "Individual" option. If you are a micro enterprise owner, select "Individual Micro NIB Registration." For small enterprises, select "Individual Small NIB Registration."

Proceed to the NIB and Business Permit application form. You will be directed to a Profile Data form where you must fill in fields such as business name, type of activity, business address and other details. After completing this, click "Save" and continue to the next form, Business Data.

In this section, click "Add Business" and fill in all information relating to your business activities, including business sector, location and number of employees. Then click "Save" and "Next." If you have more than one type of business, you may add additional business data by pressing the "Add Business" button.

You may also complete the Business Infrastructure Commitment form for Location Permit and Environmental Permit applications if required. After completing this, click "Next."

You will be directed to a data summary page where you can review all the information entered. Ensure all data is correct and accurate. Tick the disclaimer box confirming that the data provided is truthful, then click "Process NIB."

Upon completion, you will receive documents including the NIB, Business Permit and other documents such as Location Permit and Environmental Permit (if applicable) in PDF format, which can be downloaded and printed.
