How to Register for OSS for Small and Medium Enterprises
The government has officially launched a system called OSS (Online Single Submission), an integrated electronic business licensing system. This initiative aims to simplify the process for business operators, particularly those in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector.
Through OSS, the business legalisation process can now be carried out online, quickly and practically. MSMEs need only process their licensing once to obtain a Business Identification Number (NIB), which serves as the official business identity.
The following are the steps for MSMEs wishing to register on OSS to operate their businesses legally and professionally.
**Prepare Supporting Documents**
The first step before registering on OSS is to prepare important documents, including: National Identity Number (NIK), basic business information (type, location, scale), and for business entities or legal entities (PT/CV), ensure all legal documents such as the deed of establishment and Tax Identification Number (NPWP) are available.
**Access the Official OSS Website**
Open the OSS website at oss.go.id. On the main page, click "Register" to create an account. Follow the registration instructions by filling in personal and business data according to your identity.
**Create and Activate an OSS Account**
After filling in all the required information, the system will provide a username and password. Use these credentials to log in to the OSS dashboard and begin managing your business licensing.
**Complete Business Data in Full**
Within the OSS dashboard, you will be asked to complete your business profile, including: business type and name, operational location, and business scale and sector in accordance with KBLI (Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification).
**Apply for a NIB (Business Identification Number)**
Once all business information has been completed, you can apply for a NIB. The NIB is an official identity that every business operator must possess and is the primary requirement for other licensing processes.
**Add Further Licensing if Required**
After obtaining a NIB, you can apply for other permits relevant to your type of business, such as: Standard Certificates, Commercial and/or Operational Permits, and Environmental or Zoning Permits (if required).
**Download and Save Legal Documents**
Once all permits have been issued, you can print or save digital versions of licensing documents through the OSS dashboard.
For medium and large businesses, the OSS process remains accessible but requires additional documentation, such as: company deed of establishment and NPWP, more complex operational and commercial permits, and compliance with environmental, zoning and employment regulations.
