JAKARTA — Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno has affirmed that safeguarding human life remains the highest priority in preparations for Eidul Fitri 1447 H/2026 M, following projections of 143.9 million population movements throughout the Lebaran holiday period this year.

This was conveyed during a Coordination Meeting on Preparations for Eidul Fitri 1447 H/2026 M held at the Mutiara Auditorium, National Police College, South Jakarta, on Monday (2 March 2026).

Based on a survey conducted by the Ministry of Transport, approximately 143.9 million population movements are anticipated during the Eidul Fitri period this year. Pratikno stated that the government has endeavoured to distribute mobility to prevent concentration at any single time through measured policy arrangements.

“We are attempting to reduce pressure by creating a wider holiday timeframe, arranging school holidays, and implementing flexible working arrangements for civil servants, which is expected to reduce the burden of movement,” Pratikno said.

Beyond mobility management, Pratikno noted that heightened vigilance against potential hydrometeorological disasters must remain in place this year. Disaster recovery conditions in Sumatra have not yet fully recovered, with repeated occurrences of heavy rain and flooding affecting impacted regions. Outside these areas, alert levels remain elevated, including in West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, Bali, and Papua, which still face potential for high rainfall.

“We must work hard to maintain security; preserving life is the highest priority. We must work together to conduct integrated disaster mitigation,” Pratikno stated.

Pratikno also emphasised the importance of public safety during travel, particularly for motorcyclists, as well as security of vital routes that serve as critical junctures for departing and returning travellers.

“Our focus is on safety, especially for motorcyclists. Security of vital routes must also receive collective attention to ensure safe services,” Pratikno said.

Furthermore, Pratikno encouraged that services during the departure and Eidul Fitri holiday periods must prioritise a humanitarian and inclusive approach, with special attention to vulnerable groups.

“Besides safety, comfort is also important. We hope for a humanitarian and inclusive approach, particularly providing primary attention to vulnerable groups — children, pregnant women, and elderly people,” Pratikno stated.

Pratikno reminded that the success of Eidul Fitri service delivery depends on cross-sector synergy, strengthening early detection, and decision-making based on real data and continuous field verification.

“This is our collective commitment to ensure safe, comfortable and smooth services. And the state’s presence must be felt directly by the public through humanitarian and responsive services,” Pratikno concluded.
