JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) continues to advance the construction of the Serang–Panimbang Toll Road in Banten province, which is one of the national strategic projects.

To date, construction progress on several toll sections has entered the final stages and is targeted to be completed gradually by the end of 2026.

Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo stated that the toll road construction not only serves as transportation infrastructure but also as an instrument for regional development equity and strengthening the local economy.

“Toll road development always has a strategic meaning, not only for physical infrastructure but also for strengthening the foundation of the national economy,” explained Dody, quoted from a release on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

The Serang–Panimbang Toll Road has a total length of 83.67 kilometres and is divided into three sections.

Section 1 Serang–Rangkasbitung is 26.45 km long, Section 2 Rangkasbitung–Cileles is 24.17 km long, and Section 3 Cileles–Panimbang is 33 km long.

Meanwhile, construction of Section 2 Rangkasbitung–Cileles has now reached 98.64% construction progress with 86.71% land acquisition. This section is targeted for completion in the second quarter of 2026.

Construction of Section 3 Cileles–Panimbang, which is the government’s portion, is also progressing steadily.

In Phase 1, work progress has reached 99.88%. Meanwhile, Phase 2 work, divided into several packages, is targeted to be completed gradually by the end of 2026.

The Serang–Panimbang Toll Road is designed with a planned speed of 100 km/h, featuring four lanes in both directions and a 3.8-metre-wide median.

It is also equipped with several interchanges such as Walantaka, Cikeusal, Tunjung Teja, Rangkasbitung, Cikulur, Cileles, Bojong, and Panimbang.

This toll road passes through the City of Serang, Serang Regency, Lebak Regency, and Pandeglang Regency.

Its presence is expected to accelerate economic and tourism development in Banten, including supporting access to the Tanjung Lesung Special Economic Zone and the Ujung Kulon National Park tourism area.

In addition, travel time from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung is projected to take about two to three hours, shorter than the previous four to five hours.
