JAKARTA — Lebaran homecoming remains a mandatory tradition for the majority of Indonesia’s population. According to data presented by the Ministry of Transportation, private vehicle users continue to dominate among the various transportation options available.

When discussing homecoming journeys using private vehicles covering hundreds of kilometres and taking hours of travel time, this certainly presents challenges for both drivers and the vehicles themselves.

Moreover, homecoming journeys typically occur under unpredictable conditions, including traffic congestion, traffic management schemes, weather conditions, and technical risks from vehicles. Therefore, thorough preparation before departure is essential.

In an official statement, Daihatsu emphasised that it is critically important for drivers to ensure their vehicles are in prime condition. Conduct comprehensive inspections, beginning with engine oil and other essential fluids such as differential oil, brake fluid, and power steering oil where necessary.

Additionally, it is equally important to inspect brake components, radiator condition, battery, electrical systems, lights, windscreen wipers, cabin filters and air conditioning to ensure the vehicle remains comfortable to use in various road and weather conditions.

Drivers are also reminded to carry essential equipment such as jacks, spare tyres, first aid kits, and tool kits for emergency purposes. Do not forget to ensure vehicle documents such as driving licences and vehicle registration certificates remain valid.

Driver and passenger readiness is also an important factor. Plan travel requirements carefully, including luggage, personal equipment, and medications. Ensure physical fitness and pay attention to home security before departure.

Also make certain to follow the latest information regarding predictions of peak homecoming traffic volumes and traffic management arrangements such as one-way systems and contra-flow operations through official channels from relevant authorities. Additionally, monitor weather conditions, especially when some regions still face potential heavy rainfall. Drivers should rest every three hours to maintain focus and fitness during the journey.

In support of consumers undertaking the 2026 Lebaran homecoming journey, Daihatsu is establishing Emergency Posts at six strategic locations operating from 17–24 March 2026.

Daihatsu is also preparing 89 emergency service centres spread throughout Indonesia. Operations will run from 17–24 March 2026, including Saturdays and Sundays with set operating hours.
