Housing Minister: UMKM roof tile orders from Majalengka reach Rp3 billion
Majalengka — Indonesia’s Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait stated that a roof tile promotion programme launched in Majalengka Regency, West Java, has successfully absorbed UMKM products with a total transaction commitment of approximately Rp3 billion.
As an initial step in implementing the programme, several trucks of roof tiles from the production centre in Jatiwangi were dispatched to various people’s housing development projects on Wednesday evening (11 March).
“We must create something real for our people, and our MSMEs must be educated to have high competitiveness, and I am confident they can achieve this,” said the Housing Minister in a statement received in Majalengka on Thursday.
He explained that the programme represents the implementation of President Prabowo Subianto’s directive for people’s housing development to also generate economic benefits for small business operators and the community.
The roof tile promotion programme, according to Maruarar, is a policy that encourages the use of locally-produced UMKM products in people’s housing construction across various regions.
He stated that total roof tile orders from Jatiwangi reached 24 trucks, which will subsequently be used for various government programmes and residential developers.
He emphasised that future demand for roof tiles in people’s housing development is substantial, requiring UMKM operators to improve product quality to remain competitive.
Roof tile products from Jatiwangi, he continued, represent local wisdom that forms part of the distinctive character of Majalengka Regency’s community.
“Do not doubt the level of demand, as it is considerable. However, the question is how we can ensure our quality is superior and trustworthy,” he said.
Meanwhile, Majalengka Regent Eman Suherman announced that the local government has allocated a programme to improve 1,715 substandard housing units in 2026.
According to him, the programme is estimated to absorb roof tile purchases from local entrepreneurs valued at approximately Rp1.5 billion.
Additionally, through the government’s Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) programme, 900 homes in Majalengka Regency are planned for improvement with potential roof tile requirements of approximately Rp1 billion.
“In 2026, we will implement a programme to improve 1,715 substandard housing units,” he said.
