Indonesia’s Housing and Settlement Minister Maruarar Sirait, commonly known as Ara, announced that the government has significantly increased the home renovation programme quota for Bali Province in 2026. The government raised the allocation to 1,800 units from the previous figure of just 31 homes in 2025.

“Last year we only supported 31 homes from the 2025 state budget, but this year it has increased from 31 to 1,800 homes, so it is concrete,” Ara said during his remarks at the Housing Ecosystem Strengthening Programme Socialisation event held by Bank Mandiri at Art Center on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Ara noted that Buleleng regency is the locality receiving the largest home renovation subsidy. He urged his staff to move quickly so that the programme can be realised promptly.

“Our budget has increased 100 per cent to Rp100 trillion from Rp5 trillion. Eighty per cent is allocated for home renovation,” he said.

Ara also outlined the realisation of the home renovation programme nationwide. In 2025, the government completed improvements to 45,000 homes.

Meanwhile, in 2026, President Prabowo Subianto is planning a significantly larger home renovation programme.

“Last year there were 202 regencies and municipalities that received support, this year all of them will,” Ara explained.

On the same occasion, Ara also highlighted the role of the banking sector in supporting the housing ecosystem, including through financing for business operators.

He assessed that Bank Mandiri has begun demonstrating support for SMEs through the distribution of business credit.

Ara stated that President Prabowo Subianto had previously noted that state-owned banks were deemed not maximally supporting financing for small entrepreneurs and still directed most credit towards large corporations.

“That is not something I said, but something President Prabowo said, where data shows the majority of bank lending goes not to SMEs but to large companies, and this must be corrected. I hope Mandiri becomes a pioneer,” Ara said.
