A housewife in Tojo Una-Una, Central Sulawesi, was arrested by police after being caught allegedly attempting to distribute crystal meth.

The Narcotics Unit of the Tojo Una-Una Police Department confiscated 163 packets of crystal meth, ready for distribution, from a housewife in the Ampana Tete sub-district.

Chief of the Narcotics Unit of the Tojo Una-Una Police, IPTU Rizal Polii, stated that the arrest occurred after officers apprehended the housewife, identified as MLK (47), along with the hundreds of packets of crystal meth.

He explained that the arrest was initiated following reports from the community, who were concerned that their area was frequently used for drug transactions.

After receiving the reports, officers from the Narcotics Unit immediately conducted an investigation and surveillance in Uebone village, Ampana Tete sub-district.

After gathering information and conducting surveillance, officers then conducted a raid and search of the suspect’s residence.

During the search, police seized 163 packets of crystal meth, weighing 66.86 grams.

In addition to the crystal meth, officers also seized several other pieces of evidence, including 10 empty plastic clips, one shoulder bag, one small black bag, Rp8 million in cash, three pipettes, a piece of grey cloth, blue and black plastic bags, and one mobile phone.

He stated that the suspect, along with all the evidence, has been detained at the Tojo Una-Una Police Headquarters for further examination.

The suspect is charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, or alternatively, Article 609 paragraph (2) letter a of Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning the Adjustment of Criminal Law.

He added that they are continuing to investigate to uncover the drug trafficking network to its roots.

“Investigators are currently conducting intensive examinations of the suspect and witnesses, including technological information analysis to develop the network involved,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the Tojo Una-Una Police, IPTU Martono, appealed to the public to continue to actively assist the police in combating drug trafficking in the Tojo Una-Una area.

He emphasized that drugs are a serious threat that can damage the younger generation and disrupt security and public order.

“We invite the public to not hesitate to report any suspicious activity related to drugs. The cooperation of all parties is needed to break the chain of drug trafficking,” he said. (Ant)
