House Deputy Speaker Reveals Parliament to Draft Unified Data Bill, Citing Disaster Experience
House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that parliament will discuss the Unified Data Indonesia Bill this year. Dasco referenced data discrepancies encountered when disasters struck Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.
“The Legislative Agency will also hold public participation for the creation and harmonisation of the Asset Forfeiture Law. Next, the Unified Data Law will be discussed promptly,” said Dasco at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (11/3/2026).
Dasco alluded to post-disaster experience, when data held by one ministry differed from that of another ministry. He noted that this caused data inconsistencies in the field.
“Yes, Unified Data—we have considerable experience from the recent disaster, for example. Data from one ministry to another differs, so in the field there was also desynchronisation when providing assistance to displaced persons,” Dasco said.
The daily chairman of Gerindra’s executive board cited examples of discrepancies regarding social welfare and BPJS coverage held by various ministries. He hopes that with the enactment of the Unified Data Indonesia Law, there will no longer be confusion amongst the public.
“So we will synchronise into unified data so that in future there is no more data confusion that creates poor situations in the field,” he said.
